Who We Are
We are a friendly model railway society with members who range from beginners to very experienced modellers and we concentrate on constructing layouts in O, OO and N gauges.
Over the clubs' 26+ years of existence many layouts have been constructed with many currently under construction. Each week a collection of layouts are set up for construction or running. Even with many club layouts to choose from, it is still possible to bring in private layouts or modelling kits to complete.
Several nights in the year are set aside for demonstrations, talks, and the occasional videos from some of our members.
Please see when our next meeting is on our meetings programme page for details of forthcoming meetings.
More information:
The club was first officially formed on the 19th April 1995, when a group of 37 people met at St Mary's hall in Diss, to open the model railway club. The inaugural meeting was held on the 6th September 1995, at the scout hut in Diss.
These Meetings were held every week. In 2005 the club then moved to Roydon village hall, changing the name from Diss and District Model Railway Society to Roydon & Diss MRS.
The society moved once again to its current location at Shelfanger village hall. The club's first exhibition was held by the club in September 1999. Due to the move, the clubs name was reverted to the original: Diss and District Model Railway Society.
